What you will learn
The real fundamentals, one step at a time
We start from zero and build a base you can actually use, so that every decision you make with the camera has a reason behind it.
- Exposure fundamentals: how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work together to create an image.
- Focus and depth of field: deciding what should be sharp in the frame and why.
- Composition: arranging the elements of the image so the photograph is intentional, not accidental.
- Reading light: learning to see the light you already have and use it in your favor.
- First steps into nature photography: how to approach birds and small species with patience and respect.
- Observation: using nature as a space to practice looking with more attention.
This is a beginner course. You will not need to master everything at once. What I want to give you is a solid foundation, so you understand what you are doing and why, and can keep practicing on your own after the course.

Jhonattan Vanegas
I am a biologist, herpetologist and nature photographer. A large part of my life has been devoted to observing, photographing and sharing what I have learned about the natural world.
I built this course for the person I once was: someone with curiosity and a camera, wanting to understand how it all works. My goal is not to overwhelm you with technique, but to give you a clear foundation and help you enjoy the process of learning to see.

Do I need previous experience?
No. This course is designed for beginners. We start from the fundamentals, so you do not need any prior knowledge of photography.
Do I need a professional camera?
No. You can start with the camera you already have. Part of the course is understanding your gear and what you really need before investing in anything new.

Both. We meet in live online sessions, and you also get access to recorded classes so you can review the fundamentals at your own pace.
